Shelton :: Volunteer
Volunteers provide key support to our professional staff in many parts of the Club. If you have a particular skill, why not share it with a youngster? There are many ways you can help. We'll be happy to welcome you and familiarize you with activities.
Parent Club
The Parents Club is a group of parents who have come together to provide education, financial support, and social activities to club members. All parents are welcome. We will meet the first Monday of every month at the Shelton Clubhouse, 6 pm. The first meeting for the 2010-2011 school year will be Monday, October 4. If you are interested in joining, drop by the meeting and/or e-mail Jill DeWerdt at JillDeWerdt@BGC-LNV.org.
Parent Volunteer Association
The Parent Volunteer Association is comprised of parents/guardians who wish to contribute more to the Club. It is also involved in the planning and coordination of holiday events and fundraisers.
Volunteer Program
Another option for parents and guardians, the program is designed to involve parents in the lies of their children, show our kids that their parents care, bring a sense of family to the Club and our community, and augment the number of volunteers working with our kids. Services could include
- Fundraisers and special events to encourage family interaction and participation
- Field days and trips that involve our kids and their families
- Sports programs
Program Volunteers
Program Volunteers aren't necessarily parents or guardians, but individuals who would like to work directly with the boys and girls in a variety of program areas:
Education Center, Homework & Computer assistants help with daily homework and help youngsters develop sound and effective study habits.
Gamesroom assistants help with the supervision of parlor games, tournaments, and other related special events, Monday through Friday. Games include ping pong, pool, bumper pool, chess, checkers, and air hockey.
Cultural Specialists guide the children in arts and crafts, drawing, ceramics, cooking, photography, painting, or any other special skill you may have.
Sports Leagues & Teams need referees and coaches.
Special Event Volunteers
Special Event Volunteers help to plan and staff funraising and other events throughout the year.
If you would like to volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, please call, e-mail, or fax us. We'd love to hear from you!
