There are many different ways that you can help out, from tutoring or helping with homework to playing games in the games room to assisting with sports.
The first step in the process is to fill out our Volunteer Application, either in our office or via email. You can download the application by clicking the image below.
Volunteer Opportunities Available
Power Hour Homework Help is a comprehensive homework assistance program designed to raise the academic proficiency of Club members. Open Monday-Thursday.
Volunteer Opportunity: Assist Club members with their homework, school projects, and test prep, as well as support program staff.
Triple Play (gym) is a national Boys & Girls Club program that focuses on healthy habits, including physical fitness, healthy eating, and mind-body wellness.
Volunteer Opportunity: Assist program staff in implementation of the program. Volunteers who have an expertise in an area of physical fitness such as Zumba, yoga, running, or other sports can introduce them to Club members through an hour-long program.
5-7 Year Old Program runs Monday-Friday.
Volunteer Opportunity: Homework help, running games and tournaments, and helping in the gym.
Games Room volunteer opportunities include assisting program staff in organizing and implementing game tournaments.
Our Teen Room is for Club members ages 11-14.
Volunteer Opportunities: Help deliver our career, financial, and college-readiness programs. Run tournaments, art projects, gym games, and introduce new concepts/projects in areas of academia, physical fitness, health, and community service.
Skate Club (Seymour Unit)
Volunteer Opportunity: We are seeking a volunteer with an expertise in skateboarding to host a Skateboarding Club. Volunteers should have experience in skateboarding, as well as an ability to execute a safe and fun program for middle school-aged students.
Arts & Crafts
Volunteer Opportunity: Organizing and executing arts and crafts projects, art lessons, and creative expression.
Corporate Group Projects are a great way to build teamwork among employees and support your community at the same time. Options are endless and customizable and can be centered around working with our members or behind the scenes work, such as beautifying the Club grounds or painting rooms. Some examples include:

Family Game Night

Theme days (reading, chess, ice cream socials, teen socials)

Holiday parties
High School Community Service (Lavietes Unit in Shelton and Smilow Unit in Ansonia)
We are delighted to accept volunteer applicants from regional high schools and universities or other programs that require community service. We do request that you submit your volunteer application at least four weeks prior to needing a signed agreement for the completion of your hours. We also ask that you request your signed paperwork for the hours completed at least two business days before you need it.
Athletic Program Coaches
Have a passion for sports and a desire to share your knowledge with the kids? We need coaches during the school year for all our sports leagues.
